Where the smart new Bernese farmhouse now stands, there used to be an old farmhouse that could no longer be renovated due to the poor condition of the building. Fortunately, the “new edition” is almost energy self-sufficient thanks to its solar roof and straw insulation.  The roof of the wooden farmhouse, which is insulated with 80 cm thick straw bales, was covered with the Thun product 3S Solar Roof. Roof windows and laminated glass, which allow plenty of light into the building despite the large roof, also fit into the MegaSlate system. This brilliant achievement was awarded a Solar Prize Diploma 2019.
