Simulation for a Tower Renovation in the Baltics

Decision-making process for a PV façade in the Baltic States

In addition to benefits such as marketing, electricity yield on the building envelope, etc., the main decision-making factors for building owners are still the costs and yield of BIPV systems.

With complex geometries and different orientations and inclinations as well as shading, it is very difficult to make reliable statements about the PV yield. If a neighboring building is also being planned next to the planned PV renovation, the decision becomes even more complicated.
This makes it all the more important to provide a simulation that is as precise as possible for the installer’s decision-making basis.

In this cited case in the Baltic States, it led to the PV façade not being realized. But it would still have been better if the façade had been realized on incorrect or inaccurate data and the client’s expectations had not been met. Then the search for the culprits would probably have started and a negative reference project would have emerged.
